Celtic History

“Celtics” tells History from the Celtic point of view, not from that of any Establishment empire and their court historians. This is the first film series in world history to tell Celtic history from the side of the Celtics, not that of any invading empire.

Culture

This film series “Celtics” is an in-depth examination of Celtic history. Sir Barry Cunliffe, the World’s foremost expert on Celtic culture, holds that it originated along the length of the Atlantic seaboard during the Bronze Age before being taken inland.

Sir Barry Cunliffe is the most noted Celtic scholar in the world. He maintains that Celtic culture originated in the West along the Atlantic seaboard and then moved East inland to central Europe.

Language

Celtic language separated from Indo-European as early as 10,000 BC according to Toth and Forster in their paper published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. They state 8,100 BC +/- 1,900 years.  The paper also states that Celtic entered the British Islands (they can be termed the Celtic Islands at this time period) at 3,200 BC =/-  1,500 years, which places the Celtic language in the British Islands as early as 4,700 BC, which is remarkable but with explains the coordinated  effort to build large monumental stone architecture at 3,200 BC such as the Brodgar excavations (now a UNESCO site) in the Orkney Islands, of Scotland, UK.

Writing

Druids had writing.

Celtic civilization had writing as early as 650 BC according to inscriptions that have been found. This is an example of Celtic Lepontic.

Lexicon Leponticum currently includes 494 inscriptions. The majority of these documents is made up by the Cisalpine Celtic epigraphic corpus. Most of these are translated from the French, Gloziel archeological location.

Civilization

The Celtic civilization developed some very useful tools. According to some archaeologists the Celtics of Scotland developed the concept of Time.

Time – Calendar

Agriculture – Herd Domestication

The World’s oldest field system is Ceide Fields (pronounced as ‘Seed’) in Northwest Ireland where the warm Gulf Stream is all Winter.

Ceide Fields of Ireland are the oldest field system in the World.

Roads

Celtics built the World’s first road. People say “It couldn’t be Celtic”, but to build these collective field systems (Ceide Fields), roads (Sweet Track), monumental stone architecture (Newgrange, Brodgar) it would have coincided with entry of language, Celtic language, which Toth-Forster place 4700 BC in Islands.

World’s Oldest Road, was built in the Celtic Islands, called the Sweet Track, it is a timber road. A road is a track that is paved. It can be paved with wood, stone, asphalt, but it must be paved not a dirt trail.

Indoor Toilet

According to some historians, the sub-floor drain systems which originate within the structure constitute the World’s first indoor plumbing.

Celtics at 3,200 BC built the World’s first indoor plumbing in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, UK, at Skara Brae, according to some archaeologists.
